how they getting 3 when they only got to the finals twice?
He got cut. It happens. Not everyone gets to make the team.
The tv networks bid lots of money to buy the rights to show games. The tv deals are a significant source of basketball related revenue which is split between owners and players per the collective bargaining agreement. The tv networks need to sell advertisements during the game that a captive audience will view to earn the revenue to make bidding for the rights worthwhile. The owners and players alike are aligned in maximizing league revenue so they can continue to get richer. The viewers are used to it and so they don’t seem to mind too much.
NFL players have training camp. They’re not gonna waste time playing flag football against Bangladesh.
So anyone outside of a major metro area can just get effed?
They’ve won the Olympics 8 out of the last 9 tries with NBA players.
What Men’s Team Sport can claim something like that? And this isn’t some stupid little sport, the NBA is one of the biggest sporting leagues in the world, its players are some of the richest and well known athletes globally outside of Soccer, and it’s a well contested sport by affluent nations. Yao Ming, for instance, is arguably China’s most famous athlete ever.
He’s played a lot of NBA minutes and is only an 01… it’s very possible he falls out of the league and goes the Euroleague route, but he’s still young and has never played on a good team, so who knows.
KD legacy always been fine from anyone who knows Hoops. If he wasn’t so good at Hoops, nobody would care that he went to the Warriors. Ray Allen left the Celtics for the Heat after the Heat beat them in 7. Then he got another ring in Miami. He doesn’t get hated on for it because he was just a role player by then.
His NBA Soap Opera Legacy doesn’t matter as much.
Weis was a first round pick of the Knicks in 1999. He got bad advice from his agent and went back to France. I think it’s a bit unfair to say the dunk in particular ruined his career. He just never really took off in Europe, and also battled a lot of personal issues as well. I’m sure if he had been a really good European player post 2000 Olympics, he could have gotten a chance.
Dunk from a highlight perspective, but from a basketball standpoint, Curry going super saiyan to put away the gold medal is one of those all time GOAT level things.

Lu Dort plays for Canada, fyi, and was at these Olympics, but your point still stands
Teams Red, White and Blue with the top 21 players split across three teams would obviously be dominant.
Could also see what teams look like if divided by geography.
True, I made a roster assuming no declines.
Especially if they followed the European sport schedule, having a club schedule that matches FIBA rules and regularly played together in various competition, USA Teams A-C would be the betting favorites to podium sweep. As it is where the team is hodgepodge and playing in different circumstances, the B team may be able to push for a medal but probably come up short in the Quarters.
My way too early prediction
