So either BPI is terrible or I will be a sad person. Let me compound that. Smart people of Reddit: how do I short “BPI?”

Most statistical models out there seem to have a consensus Top 4 of Boston, OKC, Philly, and Dallas.

Nah. It correctly identifies that you need an MVP-caliber best player to win with very little exception and every dropoff in quality from that guy, from top 5 to borderline top 10 to outside of it, kills your championship odds by magnitudes.

how is it that they’re ranked above last year’s MVP’s team according to that criteria

ESPN is unserious. Firing Lowe and hiring Chrania already showed that

I understand if people think the Knicks are overrated. I can understand if people don’t think they’re a top 5 team.

The fact they have us outside the top 16 is beyond hating.

Thunder at 2 is some of the most valuable and accurate analysis I’ve ever read. I’m choosing to not reason beyond that at all because OF COURSE the rest of the list is just as sensible

Any model that doesn’t spit out Boston and OKC top two in that order I’m immediately suspicious of. But this model does seem to get worse the further down you go

There is no “goal.” Analytical models have flaws but not agendas.

A few teams are being disrespected here.

Lets just say whoever made this was definitely from Boston

Obviously 19th is ridiculous, or anything outside the top 10 for that matter. But it isn’t wrong about the Bridges or KAT trades, or Jalen Brunson as a championship 1st option.
