  • Everything wrong with it pretty much was a result of the decision to host it on and around the Seine.

Was obviously a terrible show in person due to so many things that wouldn’t have been seen. (You’re basically just watching a boat parade)

High amount of pre-recorded content was incredibly noticiable due to the rain.

Some of the performances were good, but it didn’t have a flow like most of the others. Just felt like a high budget variety show rather than an opening ceremony.

And then the portion with the Olympic flag and conclusion of the torch relay drug on for way too long. 5 minutes of a mechnical horse going down the Seine, and then it seemed like everyone who carried the torch had to jog half a mile to find the next person (or go down the Seine as Nadal did).

It was different, sure, but I don’t think it was better for it. Would have much preferred a traditional show that better tied all it’s elements together.

  • Lol. Clearly I struck a nerve.

Just go look at the reply by the Romanian flair who agreed with me. (Unbeknownst to them, granted, due to my somewhat vague language)

It’s obvious very very few actually think Barbosu deserves the bronze.

There’s also no logically consistent way to reward Barbosu the bronze. Either you argue that judging mistakes should be rectified at which point Voinea should be awarded the bronze or judging mistakes shouldn’t be corrected at which point Chiles should be awarded the bronze as the judging mistakes (including allegedly accepting a late appeal) should stand.

But sure, keep pretending you think it’s Barbosu rather than Voinea who deserves the bronze.
