I love watching the olympics since I was little, since 2008 in Beijing. I personally think Paris opening ceremony was one of the best I’ve seen.

It was really creative, and they thought outside the box. The artists were amazing, the boat introduction was cool as hell, overall the entire thing was great.

I know about the controversy of the drag queens imitating the last supper or something, but I thought it was really pretty, and my mum, who is catholic, thought it was great.

I don’t know why else people think it was bad. What are your thoughts about it?

TIA and please be nice (and to each other too!)

Everything wrong with it pretty much was a result of the decision to host it on and around the Seine.

Was obviously a terrible show in person due to so many things that wouldn’t have been seen. (You’re basically just watching a boat parade)

High amount of pre-recorded content was incredibly noticiable due to the rain.

Some of the performances were good, but it didn’t have a flow like most of the others. Just felt like a high budget variety show rather than an opening ceremony.

And then the portion with the Olympic flag and conclusion of the torch relay drug on for way too long. 5 minutes of a mechnical horse going down the Seine, and then it seemed like everyone who carried the torch had to jog half a mile to find the next person (or go down the Seine as Nadal did).

It was different, sure, but I don’t think it was better for it. Would have much preferred a traditional show that better tied all it’s elements together.

I think it would have been better if they went full boat parade and had each segment also on a boat. it would have been more interesting too. I liked the concept of the boats.
