He’s still being hypocritical but I can underatand crying from a finals loss. Crying over the all star game is just weird and funny

One just lost a tile, the other lost a popularity contest. There’s a difference.

“Erm, Shaq you said no crying in basketball but here you cried 30 years ago! Checkmate, liberal!”

    Why is r/NBA like this?

I think it’s an unfair comparison–Shaq was able to blow off steam by sexually assaulting his 18 year old rookie teammates

Context is key here, but im genuenly fine with both crying.

Lossing always sucks, especially after the hard work it takes to get to the finals.

Gobert was talking about his mother and i cant say nothing bad about a man that loves and respects his mother like that.

There are times when you just cant control yourself with that. Like there is a clip of Embid crying after a playoff L and thats also made fun of way too much.

People really shouldnt judge others for showing emotions at times. You aint a crybaby if you cry every once in a while.

Yes, he made a promise to his mother that he’d make the All Star team and felt as if he let her down when he didn’t.

Rudy’s mom cut off all contact with her entire family because of how racist they were to Rudy for being black so she’s very important to him beyond a typical mother-son relationship.

I used to love shaq cause all I rly saw was him being goofy and him doing good things like his Walmart shoe brand.

His Rudy hate has made me loathe him it’s so childish and corny and so clearly jealousy it’s indane

Setting Gobert aside, I feel like Shaq’s rep is going to nosedive once inside the nba wraps and he doesn’t have that to humanize him. There are so many clips like this, many from his podcast.

The angry “back in my day” persona he’s wrapping himself in is not a good look. Kind of sad, actually.

Inside the NBA is one of the biggest ways his toxicity comes to light. Stepping out of the media limelight might actually do wonders for his reputation.

Probably not. Anecdotal, but every single person I know who brings up shaq and doesn’t watch basketball is usually praising some feel good thing he’s done. If you’re not a teammate or a big he’s very nice lol

That’s about right. I think Shaq’s current reputation is that he’s very nice to random people, but is a total ass to former and current NBA plays

Shaq used to be the king of sweeps prior to 2000 lol.

His teams got punched in the mouth game 1 and folded like a cheap suit after. And it’s not like they were scrubs being carried by him, those Magic and late 90’s lakers had players.
