I see no reason why the 50 strokes haven’t been in the Olympics this entire time, they have the 50 free. All 50m events are exciting so that can’t be it. Either way they should absolutely add them without question. But I honestly think he can still make the Olympics in the 100, at least I hope so

He’s been pretty open in the past about his mental health battles and his long term coach has just moved to Australia so its more questioning retirement rather than if he’s physically capable of competing. The advantage of the 50 in this context would be that it requires less training to be competitive, and also would be a new and different challenge for him as an athlete.

He can compete in the events that already exist, in which he’s already won multiple golds. They didn’t make extra events for Bolt to win, either.
I wouldn’t necessarily be against 50m races in swimming, but it’s not unfair to swimmers that it’s not there. There are incredible athletes who dominate their sport who only have one shot at gold. Swimmers already have have multiple shots.
He swims in the world championships at events taht already exist such as the 50m. Its not making another event, itsnot artificially limiting sports because of other sports or medal tables

World championships cater to their own sport entirely, including testing new formats, team concepts etc.
Olympics represent sport competitions as a whole. It’s fine to have a difference between them.
So? That’s not a reason to limit people from competing in events that are used at WCs
Given the overlaps, either 200 or 400 should to go. If the overlaps of 50 and 100 are the on the same level though I’m not sure if I’d like one
