Only other time there’s been a stretch of 6 years when 6 different teams won the Finals is 1975-1980 when the winners were Warriors, Celtics, Trailblazers, Bullets, Supersonics, Lakers. There has never been a 7 year stretch of 7 different teams winning. 2025 could be the first time it will ever happen. Parity in the league this league has been fantastic.

The Celtics are the only team to repeat in the top 5 in terms of player impact estimates across the last three seasons — I agree that barring catastrophic injuries, they’re most likely to repeat as champions within the next 6 years.

So pretty much the same teams (lakers, warriors, Celtics) but also…

Blazers = Nuggets (Dominant Center Walton with elite pieces with Maurice Lucas)

Bullets = Raptors (Elite 2 Way wing Dandridge joins the roster and takes them over the top)

Sonics = Bucks (Both have green jerseys 😎)

I think Celtics are very likely to repeat than all those other teams. Their core is in their prime and no major pieces are aging. Everyone is on contract and the coach has no major issues. They are reliable in regular season to get home court for the entire run. Only major hurdle is a healthy Giannis.

Brown was just snubbed by team USA. Tatum was just humiliated by his experience on team USA. This is the first time in history that a defending champion’s two best players come into the season with something to prove. I like Boston’s chances

You’re getting downvoted but I actually do see some vague parallels between this Celtics team and the 14-15 Warriors. Strength-in-Numbers approach to bball where the stars’ accomplishments were minimized due to (1) playing within their system and abilities and (2) playing whoever’s in front of them even if it’s an “easy” matchup. The team stays largely intact over the summer and the hunger to prove folks wrong grows over the summer.

Certainly not saying the Celtics are gonna become the 15-16 Warriors, but they’ve got the motivation and the team to come back locked in af for next season.

Everyone said that about the Nuggets. I’m sure another team is going to build a roster specifically for the celtics. I wouldn’t say likely.

The Celtics are in an easy conference and have an incredible starting lineup. Tingus pingus will probably be out for a month or two but they will be fine like they were in the playoffs.

The Nuggets faced an absolute buzzsaw of a Western conference and didn’t expect Murray to regress as much as he did.

The nuggets lost 2 playoff rotation players. The Celtics lost 0

The Nuggets play in a harder conference and lost players, either one could’ve prevented a repeat let alone both.

Nuggets aren’t nearly as deep, made 0 moves to improve as a team and lost players.

People last year were delusional into thinking the Nuggets were great. They won 53 games in their championship year and faced teams that averaged 44 wins in their run.

The Celtics were legit great. Not historic or anything, but definitely great.

Parity is great for the dedicated fans, but bad for ratings. Not saying one has to happen at the expense of the other, but it’s telling the difference in viewership of the Lebron vs Steph era to the recent parity, to the Olympics.

Maybe Wemby will be that next must-see player regardless of team affiliation or time zone.

As someone from a country very far away from USA. Ill say these things dont matter that much for the global fans.

I grew up in football, baseball and basketball niches. Theres a big bunch of people that play bball but dont follow NBA. The reason being the same as the other niches: too much intermission.

Also, most countries are football fans and theres only halftime as intermission there so going from one to the other is hard

For me, personally, it’s a little too much parity right now. I don’t wanna see the same teams ever year, but it also feels less meaningful if it’s always different teams.

A LITTLE more stability at the top would suit my tastes. If, for example, we could have Boston vs Bucks in the ECF and Denver vs OKC in the WCF, that’d be great.

Only other time there’s been a stretch of 6 years when 6 different teams won the Finals is 1975-1980

The chaos does remind me a bit of the 70s. Sometimes I think that’s how basketball should be played, especially the 2023 Nuggets, who resemble the 1977 Trail Blazers. But sometimes I also feel like most teams play the same way, and I wish there was more diversity in style of plays.
