As for Ukraine, these Olympics were underwhelming since we only finished in 22nd place on the medal table despite previously competing for top 10 placements. There were some additional gold medals opportunities within reach. We completely failed in swimming, tennis, and some other sports. Still, the result is somehow decent considering the circumstances. What about your country?
Yes and no. Yes because Romania got more medals than other recent Olympics. No because we finally had a gymnastics team in over a decade and it’s now completely overshadowed by the bronze controversy
Very happy with the Netherlands 6th overall score. For a small country I think that’s pretty good.
you guys crushed the second half of the games
If we can keep this up, get our swimmers and Judoers back on track, have a bit more luck with the female cycling and mountainbiking. We should be able to get a lot more. But the new government wants to cut the budgets, I say double them.
I’m a fat fuck and I really got inspired to try and do some more sports. I think we really need that and the current budget is about the price of a beer per person. I’d gladly pay two beers if it meand watching more of my countrymen achieve their dreams, and me thinking as a 41 year old, I could pick up one of those shooting sports and make the olympics.
I would absolutley not make it, but I like the what if dream for the fat fucks like me, and like the dream for the younger people even more.
Once every two year we celebrate people who give everything for a passion and watch them win and make it our own win, we also watch people not make it and continue on. Both are so very important as examples for the rest of us.
Im curious, can you please share if you have grassroot program for sports? Like is everyone inclined to sports at a young age?
Yes, it’s a small country but there are lots of different sport venues to choose from.
We used to. But over the past years it’s been less and less. The new government wants to cut more on sports and programs. I am very curious to see how we’ll perform in games to come. Future generations won’t be so inclined to reach the level of athelticism that we showed this year.
I remember you had an awesome football team as well
In terms of athletics Netherlands is a big country, not surprising considering the investments and resources the country has. They also did send the 12th most number of athletes. But to have the 6th most golds and 8th most medals is really good.
Including a child rapist.
Equally Sweden with 10 million inhabitants getting sixteenth is great. Like winning beach volley in a country with little to no beaches to compare to warmer countries is fantastic
to be fair, you guys got a lot going on the past few years and your athletes may have had other concerns… as for me, i’m very disappointed in the US men’s track team and all of the “street sports” athletes (skateboard, bmx, breaking, 3x3)
Absolutely not
Korean born living in Canada, I was so proud of our countries results. Killed it in archery and some few surprises too.
4x100m relay by Canada was also a bright spot!
Very happy. Our best Olympics ever
Reasonable. Track cycling saved us! 🇵🇹
Just happy about Olivia Reeves gold and Angie Paola Palacios Dajomes bronze because she had the best singlet.
Yes with an asterisk… We achieved our best ever performance at the Olympics (outside of boycotted 1984) with some pretty inspirational moments. Winning gold in the men’s 4x100m after the men really struggled in their individual events, Summer McIntosh tearing up the pool at just 17, getting the double gold in both men’s and women’s hammer throw, our first ever black swimming medalist. Very proud of our entire team, medallist or not.
I only wish we could’ve snuck into the top 10 of the medal table. Very happy with 12th, but kinda irked a much smaller country like New Zealand managed to get more gold. But hey, kudos to the Kiwis for their amazing performance!
Chile, I’m very happy ❤️ we got one gold and one silver after 16 years of winning Nothing
I’m pretty satisfied with Ukraine’s performance in a much more important competition going on right now.
The ranking not really… But the performance yes . Canada did get a haul in the swimming competitions so that’s good.
CBC won again for best of coverage.
I emailed them back when Tokyo Olympics were ongoing thanking so much for not being nbc… They even emailed back 😅
Sweet! They should be acknowledged.
Would have been good if we were able to keep the men’s medley relay streak up in swimming. I’m sad we lost it.
No, we should have won every gold. /s
I’m American and I am satisfied with our performance.
