7 days agoThis isn’t really a great comparison imo. She was also an elite rower when she was in college. Rowing/cycling have a lot of cross-transference in terms of raw power and VO2 max, and it’s not uncommon for people to swap from one to the other. She worked hard but the base was already there
As a number of people have said, if you finish in the top 8 you get an Olympic diploma. You also get an Olympic pin with a number on it - that’s the number of Olympians world wide at the time you get your pin. Starting from Rio everyone got free Samsung limited edition phones and a bag of other electronic goodies. Each country gives their athletes a heap of uniforms/gear. Australia also frames the opening ceremony blazer pocket as a commemorative piece for each athlete, and if I remember right we also got pins with them. You get to use OLY post nominals and you get an olympian.org email address with free cloud storage…
In terms of finances? Probably just debt 🤣
