Eddie the Eagle and Eric Moussambani were 1. Honest-to-goodness the best of their respective countries, and 2. coming from a place of sincerity and doing their very best in the face of adversity. In fact, in the same event there was an Afghan girl from the refugee team who wasn’t at the same level as the others (and was later disqualified for displaying the message “Free Afghan Women”), but she came from that same place of sincerity and genuine effort.
In Raygun’s case, there’s no way that 1. She didn’t take the spot from someone more deserving (there’s no way she’s the best competitive breakdancer in Australia), and 2. She didn’t know better. For fuck’s sake, she did her PhD thesis on breakdancing! She must have seen breakdancing before, she totally knew better than to go to the Olympic stage and do the fucking sprinkler.
