if d-rose never played again after his mvp year he might be in right now. its just a matter of penalizing him for never being the same again after his injuries.
over a long enough time span yes. not first ballot, not in a couple years, or even several. but many decades down the line when players of this era are seen as pioneers then its totally in the realm of possibility.

when comparing any player to 2017 IT its more of a reminder of a cautionary tale. its almost as if people want to reserve putting too much stock on Jalen for example because of what happened with IT after that season. I think Brunson will be more sustainable as he has full trust from the org, IT deserves to get full credit for that magical season tho so ill say him.

marketability is ultimately the deciding factor. and its an arbitrary metric. the word superstar is meaningless if we can just base it off player rankings. a player like jokic transcends the marketability metric because his stats and accolades are so overwhelming
