Watching Edey out there, it’s like watching baby Yao. I can see echoes of Yao’s touch around the rim in Edey’s game. He really reminds me of that classic archetype of centers who can grow into legitimate shot creators. And of course due to the height he’ll always be a strong rebounding and rim protecting presence. I was sleeping on Memphis but Edey is having me reconsider where I put them.

Blatantly too young to have watched Yao.

    These two aren’t even close.

Yao could shoot, Yao had footwork, Yao had a silly soft touch, Yao was mobile for his size, Yao had better handles, Yao had better handles.

They’re not even comparable other than they’re both tall and Asian.

He’s gonna be better than what people were projecting, but other than size he’s not similar to Yao.

This is like when every random east Asian kid was called Yao on the playground in the 00s even if they didn’t really play like Yao.

He’s about 80 percent of rookie Yao
