The main thing that drives conversations about this guy is his contract.

When the Heat signed Herro to his current contract, he was an up-and-coming young player. His contract was huge, so most people agreed he was super overpaid. But now, a couple years have passed, and Herro is currently the 56th highest paid player, making less than Emmanuel Quickley, Jordan Poole, or Jerami Grant. Also making more than some players who are probably better.

My point is the salary cap has caught up to this contract and at this point, Herro is on a contract that is completely appropriate for a guy with his production, and because of this, he’s actually slightly underrated now. He’s always been a good player and his contract has been the negative but as the 56th highest paid player I think he’s a good asset.

Some of these comps in here are absolutely wild lol. I’ve been pro moving him but holy shit this sub doesn’t watch our team at all.

56th highest paid player, 30 teams. He’s paid like a 2nd option. He is a borderline starter/sixthman on any playoff contender. He’s as valuable as Malik Monk, but making twice as much. He may be an “underrated good player”, but is going to be overpaid atleast until his current contract expires.

He’s paid like a third option on a playoff team. Look at the competition in the East, 3 of the top 8 teams have third options being paid more and all except the Magic (Wagner and Paolo still on rookie deals) have multiple players paid more.

Once the extensions kick in next year 3 of the top 8 teams in the East will have third options making more than Herro.

Lol, Herro averages more points, rebounds and assists career wise is a way better 3 point shooter. (Same exact career ts%) and younger. In what world are they the same value?

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

No pun intended. I really hope this is his year and he has a more rounded game across the board and makes a significant leap forward. Personally, I think he’s one of the players with the most to prove this year. People, myself included, will small Ben Simmons for example but Herro really needs to step up. He can be a really good starter or a top six man, this year I hope it’s the former. Even in preseason play and interviews it seems like he’s moving in the right direction. So here’s hoping.

I think even by new CBA he’s still slightly overpaid.

I really like Herro as a player he just seems to be unfortunately highly injury prone and unreliable.

I agree. He put a good bit of muscle on this off-season so hopefully it helps.

When Tyler isn’t thinking egotistically, he’s a great NBA player. Him in his “I’m a starter or I’m the teams pg” wasn’t good for him or the Heat. Dude bought in this season, seems a lot more mature as well. See him having a pretty solid year. The money thing is always meh because MPJ isn’t a max player lmao but so was Tyler. This year I can see him playing to the level of the contract
