The main thing that drives conversations about this guy is his contract.

When the Heat signed Herro to his current contract, he was an up-and-coming young player. His contract was huge, so most people agreed he was super overpaid. But now, a couple years have passed, and Herro is currently the 56th highest paid player, making less than Emmanuel Quickley, Jordan Poole, or Jerami Grant. Also making more than some players who are probably better.

My point is the salary cap has caught up to this contract and at this point, Herro is on a contract that is completely appropriate for a guy with his production, and because of this, he’s actually slightly underrated now. He’s always been a good player and his contract has been the negative but as the 56th highest paid player I think he’s a good asset.

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

No pun intended. I really hope this is his year and he has a more rounded game across the board and makes a significant leap forward. Personally, I think he’s one of the players with the most to prove this year. People, myself included, will small Ben Simmons for example but Herro really needs to step up. He can be a really good starter or a top six man, this year I hope it’s the former. Even in preseason play and interviews it seems like he’s moving in the right direction. So here’s hoping.

I think even by new CBA he’s still slightly overpaid.
