Like when we say “player A” averaged 28 against “player B team” while “player B” averaged 32 against “player A team”, normally most would say that “player A” had a better series & outplayed “player B” in their matchup, but i rarely see anyone bringing up what kind of defense these players face, for example “player B” could’ve faced an elite defender while the other was guarded by lesser one
That requires either watching the game live closely & attentively, or more commonly watching a replay of the game to be able to break it down. Two things a casual watcher simply doesn’t do. Majority of fans don’t do that which I don’t blame a percentage because it’s kind of hard to find breakdowns of certain games or even getting a full replay for free. YouTube usually just has highlights which is not a substitute.
Also some people just like to spread narratives to support their favorite player.
