The gymnasts are the best ever in strength, speed, durability, all things athletic abilities. The best current gymnast is the best ever in raw showcasing of what human body can do.
However, there is the word ’artistic’ in the name of the discipline.
What is missing is grace, something that you completely embrace upon seeing it. That was prevalent in the earlier decades. The prime example: Nadia Comaneci. Would she be able to win today at a ’gymnastics meet’? No way! How about in ’artistic gymnastics’? She and several others from an earlier era had something special. They had grace!
FRG did not feel “entitled” as you so disgustingly put it, your own federation failed to follow proper procedure and your own gymnast was gifted an element she did not perform.

Most athletes have too much pride to claim victory knowing they had a lower score and lost but I guess y’all do things differently in Romania.
