Just curious what non-Americans thought about the whole hand-off part of the ceremony. I saw a lot of griping about Tom Cruise and celebrities generally, but I’m more asking about the pre-recorded video at the beach filmed with the musical acts. I’m guessing Snoop (and maybe billie eilish) are famous abroad, but I’m wondering if foreigners have ever heard of RHCP before? Do non-Americans like that type of music/ is it popular abroad? And what’d yall think of the little video? Let me know, fellow olympic enthusiasts!
We want Chili Willy!
OK, calm down there Barney 😆
I would think that most people that live in a Westernized country between the ages of 25-50 would know who they are…
I’m a 90s kid so my generation is very familiar. Have not thought about them in ages though.
Depends on peoples ages, Chilli Peppers were big the 90s, Snoop in the 90a & 00s, while Billie Eilish is fairly modern. Just hearing the name has popped Californication into my head lol
I won’t say ‘most people have heard of them’, since I can’t claim that a Chinese 18 year old or Ugandan 70 year old is likely to have (probably not?) but they’re very famous internationally, yes. Especially going by song recognition rather than names. Certainly they’re a household name in other Western countries. Not Taylor Swift, Beatles, Queen or Michael Jackson level but maybe the next tier of fame.
You mean to tell me there are people that have never heard of RHCP?
They are definitely a Top 100 band worldwide as far as popularity goes - in the “western world” probably much higher. Personally not a big fan of Rock, but even I know who they are.
People know…
Do we know one of the most famous rock bands of the last 30 years?
Yes, we know who RHCP are.
The way this was asked like they are some unknown indie act is so goddamn funny lmao
