obviously a lot of a bigs and forwards gain substantial amounts of muscle and general weight throughout their career (giannis, lebron, shaq, wilt, kareem) but i was wondering how much muscle do guards typically build through their careers and who are some outliers with crazy transformations? jordan comes to mind, going from 195 in his rookie season to 223 when he played for the wizards, adding nearly 30 lbs over his career, kobe added a similar amount of weight although i dont think it was as much as jordan added, harden’s weight’s always been talked about and he came into the league already at 220 or heavier and looks significantly bigger… marcus smart was reportedly 240 at one point… often times when guards bulk up too much it seems to become an issue, smart complained of back problems and harden’s weight raised concerns it may hinder his athleticism

Bryn Forbes packed on a ton of mass his first 3 years. If you can’t grow taller it’s the next best thing

Steph is jacked. Looks like he pulled a Giannis honestly with how much he has bulked up since he was drafted

Good call on Smart. I think in his case the added muscle has actually prevented him from getting more injured over the years, given how much he throws his body around.

He’s built more like a linebacker than a traditional PG for sure

Buddy, anyone can deadlift 400 after a year, maybe two, of lifting. Deadlifting is the easiest of the core 3 lifts

Well, I am surprised no one mentioned D-Wade, its kinda canonical example. Guy was very athletic and pretty muscular in his first years already, but near 2008 he became fucking tank . And he was almost 22 when he came to the league, so it is not like tiny 18-yrs old guy just bulked up with age a little

part of the storyline of the nuggets doing so well in the bubble was Murray putting on like 15lbs (wasn’t insanely lean but it was def a lot of muscle) and he was able to handle contact around the rim better and it definitely showed in those playoffs
