I am once again asking why Jokic is getting so much praise when he choked away a double digit lead in the 4th quarter and Serbia qualified for the Olympics without him.

USA are clearly better team so no surprise they went 3-0 but the first two games Serbia were not going to go all out… Jokic on floor and the score was 81-81, 3-29 with him on the bench during one of the games before semi final.
It was close in the semi final too but Jokic got into fouil trouble and was playing 40 minutes so it obviously fell off in the 4th quarter when he couldn’t even attempt to play D 1 foul away from ejection.

murray gets treated like it was all bc of jokic that he popped off, like he wasn’t putting up steph curry numbers in the championship run. jokic wouldn’t have won without murray playing the way he did

I will say Embiid played good defense against Jokic in the fourth quarter, but the real reason they lost is because their shooters cooled off from three. I think Bogdanovic missed a wide open three that would have given Serbia a 5 point lead with 2 and a half minutes left
Jokic could have played better but that was a team loss that shouldn’t be attributed to him

The Jokic fanatics are definitely downplaying the impact of his teammates. Guys like Bogdanovic, Abramovich and other Serbs played their absolute hearts out on the defensive end and were hitting incredibly tough shots all game long. It was a team effort. Jokic also didn’t have his best scoring the ball, going 0/6 from the 3 point line.
However, Jokic haters are taking it too far and trying to act as if Jokic was getting carried. If you pay attention the tape, pretty much every shot the Serbians generated was through Jokic’s gravity. He was also great defensively for a large majority of that game until he picked up his 4th foul.

This Serbian team is amazing in Fiba already without Jokic, but he makes them a lot better and unlocks some of their players further.
I feel like its unfair to call it Jokic vs USA. Do people forget that they won silver last year? That Serbian team would have probably beat team USA last summer if they had met. And yea sure the team last year not the very best USA had to offer but it was still a team with multiple all stars.

Ask anyone in Europe and they will praise Serbia for getting silver. No one will shit on Jokić because of the loss in the final. There most likely won’t be any shutting on his teammates either. They all performed great. It’s just that the USA performed better. It hurts to be in front and losing in the final minutes but you know what? Shit happens.
Why do people here need to shit on a player instead of congratulating the winning team because it was the better team. The choking arguments are insane. The team with 12 All-stars and two all-time greats plus one FIBA all-time great against 1 one all time great. There is no loss on Jokić there is just a win for the US team.

Because it’s team USA lol. You can’t have Curry, LeBron, KD, and even swoop Embiid to your side and expect anything else than gold. For everyone else it’s an uphill battle, a boss fight, for USA it should be cake walk. Yeah, it’s great that they won, but it isn’t a world shattering win, where an underdog slays the giant. Team Serbia did extremely well, and they are well within their right to celebrate
