I’d argue that Paris put on the best show since London 2012. Great athletes, incredible venues, and the people of Paris were supportive of the Olympics. I’d argue it is really helped rebound the image of the Olympics. Couple of hiccups with the Opening Ceremony and the Seine controversy but really smooth job by Paris.

I think Paris fared quite well.

The logistical nightmare that is the Olympic Games, came off without too many issues.

Security was quiet, so things seemed to be handled quite well.

The venues seemed really nice. The course for the bike races and marathons were beautiful, as was the mountain bike course.

That said, you hope the host city didn’t lose too much money in the costs that are incurred by hosting.

I think what made it immense was that basically all the infrastructure was already there. Paris 2024 could focus on running the event itself rather than scrambling to get venues finished like in Rio.

Of course it all went smoothly.

I also like how there will be no white elephant permanent venues.

This is how you do an Olympics ladies and gentleman. Basically if you aren’t ready to host it yesterday then don’t apply.

I am really fearing the Brisbane Olympics for this reason. It’s already looking like a political shit fight.

The venues were incredible and I loved the way the entire city and its landmarks were showcased. In that respect alone, Paris has been my favorite Olympics ever. I doubt any other host city could put on such a display.

I still think the river parade of the opening ceremony was a mistake though. The best opening ceremonies for me are still Beijing for its grandeur and London for its overall atmosphere.
