I live in a part of the US where historically there has been a huge amount of Finnish immigration, in fact historically one of the most active areas of Finnish immigration and their descendants in the US outside of Michigan (Clark County, WA).

Mostly it was the fact they’re Apostolic Lutherens, which is a religious denomination not found in many other areas of the world.

It was very interesting growing up alongside them in the schools, but over the last three decades they have absolutely dominated the general construction industry in the area.

Finnish-American companies have corporate headquarters in my city now that do work in multiple states and seem very successful and profitable.

They must be doing something right.

They should make use of their huge Somali immigrant population and produce the next generation of “Flying Finns”

I have an Olympian member who did not medal. There are only so many winners! Hold your heads high. You are still elite athletes! You are still amazing!

I believe it was 204 this time, but only 91 NOCs got medals, including a first for the refugee team

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. The answer is lots of them (not like it really matters).

Is it fair to use Wilma Murto’s pic?

Sixth place in an Olympics after a recent injury is pretty good i think.

114 out of 206 failed to medal, though only Nigeria (88) had more athletes than Finland (56) among those, while the vast majority were there with less than 10
