The league keeps the NBA branding front and center, and they’ve been more deliberate about it in recent years (and, probably their guidelines for media partners emphasize this, though they’re not 100% on always doing it.) My Nuggets shirts from 2023 all say “NBA champions”, not “world champions”. The only league I know of that routinely says “world” is MLB’s World Series. “World champs” is really more something that fans say than something the league says.
