- Basically want to see the best peaks since 2010 and on, and thought it’d be easier if I gave people names. I think these are probably the best peaks since 2010, though if someone wants to throw Embiid/Harden/Kawhi in there then go ahead.
- I like 3-year peaks because it gives you a balance between a player at their best but limits impact of an outlier season.
Rules:
- You can decide each player’s 3-year peak, but natural choices might be LeBron (2012-14 or 2016-18), Curry (2015-18 or 2016-19), Jokic (2022-24), Giannis (2019-21). But go with what you want.
- Regular season AND postseason should be considered here, not one or the other.
- This is trying to get at “who was the best player” or “who would you want to build a team around” - not just who had the most accolades in a three year span.
Yea, that’s true
The other thing in terms of player evaluations is that I really value availability. Now, Giannis wasn’t really unhealthy in his 3 year peak AND he was available in the playoffs, but Jokic still averaged 74 games per season, whereas Giannis averaged 65 games per season.
Over 3 seasons, that’s a 27 game difference, which is a big difference for me.
That said, I still think the 2 are interchangeable and wouldn’t begrudge anyone having Giannis higher than Jokic in terms of peak.
