Imagine you’re Ty Lue or Eric Spoelstra. And let’s say that Steve Kerr ate some undercooked frog legs last night and had to stay behind in the hotel bathroom.

You’re in charge now, for one game only. Do you put Curry into the second unit? If yes, for basketball reasons or strictly for the lols?

Only if it’s a close game and there are guards on the opposing team who make Curry a huge defensive liability. And three aren’t many of those left in the tournament.

The fear of Steph open is as big as lebron with the ball going downhill after a screen. Both have a lot of gravity that opens up looks for others.

No one in the world is gonna sag off Steph

How could you explain it to your country if you gave Steph Curry breathing room?

I think the better question to ask is if team USA finds themselves in a close game in the 4th quarter, would you have Steph Curry in the closing lineup?

I would argue no. The only really weak spot in the team USA’s defense is Steph at the POA and Embiid’s drop coverage. And I don’t think the US utilizes Steph enough for him to outproduce his defensive defenses with his gravity. They might be better off having White in there instead since he is a better fit for the Lebron Ball that USA defaults to in close games. Holiday/White/Lebron/KD/AD would be my closing lineup

Steph, like Dame in the last Olympics, has exposed his age and talent loss. He will still have big games but it might be his last all nba year.
