Lets say you had a pretty good NBA career, 12 years of pretty good basketball. Would you guys rather win one ring or win gold medal?

You just have to see interviews with Patty mills after he won bronze to see how much the Olympics means to international players

Gold medal probably. Tons of players win rings with varying levels of contribution from obviously first ballot hofers to guys that don’t live past their rookie deals. Making team USA though? Being good enough for that roster puts you in truly elite company as a basketball player. You have to be a top 20-30 player in the league to do that

Always the ring, but a gold medal would be a nice consolation prize, and playing and winning with the best of the best is probably the most fun thing a pro player can do

Winning the gold medal by defeating the USA is the most legendary achievement a basketball player can achieve. It’s like being the star of the U.S. soccer team and winning the World Cup final against Argentina, Brasil, France or Germany. I’m sure Manu would give up his four rings before he would give up that medal.

Assuming im getting gold on USA, id take the gold medal. Probably means im a fringe all star player at the very worst which therefore means i’m on a decent contract

Is this Carmelo Anthony’s burner account asking this question? Not even close, a ring
