Like many here I had an amazing time following the Paris 2024 Olympics, and it was a privilege to have this opportunity to display our capital and country to the world.
The Tokyo Olympics were in my opinion the most forgettable ones in recent times, unfortunately a lot of what made Paris 2024 an international success couldn’t happen there because of Covid restrictions.
The pandemic robbed the Japanese of a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase their culture and country, and the rest of us were robbed of the opportunity to enjoy the Tokyo Olympics the way they were meant to be.
The way Paris was organized was exquisite. I have never seen anything so well done to be honest. From the opening ceremony to the finish. The cycling and race, triathlon, marathons were iconic in terms of location and route.
It will be hard to beat. Not sure LA can compete…but let’s see
LA will be a different experience I think, whereas Paris was a showcase of the city’s history I think LA will have a modern feel. Just looking at the venue list is incredible, I don’t think any Olympics before has had so many state of the art stadiums and arenas.
They should have done a first ever and hosted 2028’s Olympics in every United States city. Think about how cool that would have been. Pass the torch to the top of the Statue of Liberty!
It’s because each olympic organising committee learns from the experience of previous Olympics. The amount of handover that goes on is stunning https://olympics.com/ioc/news/olympic-games-knowledge-management-programme-provides-essential-resource-for-games-organisers
Beijing 08 will still be the best, Paris will never top it
