    Anyone can call themselves an olympian. It’s an un-trademarkable word without an accompanying logo.

    In the US, there are over 400 active TM registrations for the word alongside a logo or other identifying materials. This is evidence that anyone can use the word. Trademarking “olympian” would be like trademarking “boy.” It’s not possible.

      Though if they compete they are able to apply for the initials OLY to be used at the end of their name, which would signify that they are an Olympian.
