    I don’t think he would’ve won MVP even without the 65 game rule this year.

    He played in less than half the games.

    And it obviously didn’t exist the other years, and has nothing to do with winning FMVP…

      Yeah absolutely no shot you can give MVP to a guy who played under 1/2 a season. Embiid absolutely killed it in the games he played. He looked like the best player in the league. He also didn’t play nearly enough to be considered the most valuable player this year.

        Exactly. He was amazing last season, no questions asked.

        But i think the 65 game rule has blinded people from realising the fact that games played always mattered when it comes to giving awards.

        Like in 2023 it wasnt important for the MVP cause Embid played like 66 games and Jokic played 69.

        But if the gap between games played is bigger, than it starts to look more favorable towards one player.

        Like Jokic last season played 9 (if i remember right) more games than Luka and that very much counted towards him getting the MVP and even played more than Shai i think.

        And if you go further into the past you will probably see lots of examoles of availability being awarded.
