same. I feel bad for all of them as a whole because this probably wasn’t the best showcase of what they do. Instead it’s a giant joke and meme because of that Aussie lady.
There’s a bizarre amount of hate directed towards it that similar events simply don’t receive.
Much of the criticism directed at breaking cites its nature as a subjectively judged artistic performance, but so are things like gymnastics, diving, artistic swimming, and dressage. Yet those are staples of the Olympic program.
History. The more subjective an event is, the less I like it in the Olympics. BUT, that said, except for ice dancing, those sports you listed are extremely athletic and also have an established presence in the Olympics. I concede it’s hard to draw a clear line but Breaking doesn’t cut it for me.
I loved it. What a cool sport to showcase a different type of athleticism. Everyone is shitting on one specific person but completely disregarding how much training all the other athletes do in order to be able to have the strength and stamina to perform like that.
It was awesome, but I do think they need to work on the format or scoring a little. I can see why the breakers with all the power moves don’t make it through, but they should consider adding a small teams event where they would shine.
Am I the only one who actually enjoyed breaking?
No, I loved it. Once they weeded out a few of the weaker competitors. It was awesome.

No, it was great.

And even in the winter olympics, figure skating is a blend of athleticism and artistry that’s also subjectively judged.
Yeah. This is what I keep coming to.
I can think of no objective reasoning why Breaking shouldn’t be in the Olympics but gymnastics, diving, ice dancing and figure skating should be.

nope I thoroughly enjoyed it.

No, my mom was talking about how her work friends were talking about how cool the competition was, and she’s in her late 60s and not even into sports.
