I think it’s almost unanimous that Steph is the greatest shooter of all time and Magic is the greatest passer of all time. My question is, who has a wider gap between them and #2 + the rest of the pack?

Also, stats are important, but not the end all be all here. For instance, Klay might actually be a slightly better catch-and-shoot 3pt maker than Steph, but Steph is so far and away better at creating his own shot it’s why he is clearly the best shooter of all time. And Magic may not hold the assist record, but you would be hard-pressed by most fans and players if you said Stockton had a similar passing ability to Magic.

I don’t think Magic was the best passer but I don’t think anyone was better.

      Thats because of recency bias.

Of course the gap between Steph and the next best shooter is huge, not like magic and the best passer.

But because Magic had cemented his legacy long enough that people got 30 years to study his game. Every passer in the NBA learn the most from Magic.

Steph isn’t even retired yet, hell you can argue he’s still in his prime. who knows in 20 years from now half-court shot is probably gonna be a normal thing? THEN we can have the conversation.

But when Magic still playing on his prime, no one touch how he move the ball. Not even close.

        But that’s simply not true.

Bird was an incredible passer, Pistol Pete, Zeke…
