Women are better in rifle but not pistol. In rifle shorter people with wider hips have an advantage. In pistol the gun weighs 1.1 pounds and men have a higher grip strength which enables them to use a lower percentage of their strength

The way it has been explained to me is that women’s hip angle provide a more stable “locked in” stance (like seen in the photo in the link below). However, This isn’t the same general hip position typically used in pistol, or tactical shooting so that may help explain why women tend to shoot better in rifle. I think there is also evidence that women have better dexterity which may translate to better trigger control (speculation).

In pistol, your hand is almost completely relaxed. Using “strength” is bad… “stamina” is a better word, but even a child can train for the stamina needed. In pistol, there is no advantage for either gender.

Yes, in rifle, it is considered that women have a slight advantage because hips, center of gravity, and flexibility(this one can be gained by men but lot never work on it…I was part of the lot)

Growing up, girls and boys were never separated, we are all equal shooters.

Of course, I am only talking about target shooting.

Source, did air pistol, smallbore pistol, smallbore rifle, and other disciplines, was couched by an Olympic couch, competed growing up against those who eventually went to the Olympics and won lot on state and national level, and was a couch briefly.
