What exactly does it mean when an announcer says a player gets an “and 1”? I’m relatively new to watching basketball, it’s my 3rd year as a fan and sometimes I hear the announcer say a player got an “and 1”. It seems like it’s always after a point so I’m thinking the announcers are saying he got a basket and was fouled in the process so he gets 2 points for the basket “and 1” free throw. Can someone explain?
