Why are Steph and even Luka in consideration for being some of the best basketball players ever when they don’t play defense? In my eyes the top 10 should be the best players on both sides of the ball, not just one. Can Steph really be considered a top 5 player all time without ever being an above average defender?
Especially for non rim protectors, basically because the difference between the Luka and Steph’s offensive impact vs replacement level player offense impact is much larger than Jrue and Suggs defensive impact vs replacement level player defense. Just watching games and players over time shows its been weighted towards this for most of NBA history, but over the last 10 years its become even more biased towards offense.
Not as much in the postseason when it matters.
