I was bored, so I compiled data from the Ringer’s Top 100 list. This methodology is, of course, flawed in that I did not rank groups unless each member was listed on the Ringer’s Top 100 list. For example, I believe anyone would rather have Luka, Kyrie, Lively, and PJ Washington than Houston’s quartet, but my criteria prevented me from ranking Dallas’s top four players here. Regardless, the results are listed below.

Numbers next to rankings indicate the average ranking on the Ringer’s Top 100. Brandon Ingram was not included for the Pelicans because he is so clearly not in their plans for this season. CJ McCollum was also not included for NOP because I expect him to come off the bench. Retrospectively, I regret doing this, but too late.

  3. OKC (SGA, JDub, Chet, Caruso, & Hartenstein) – 48
  4. MIN (Ant, Gobert, Randle, McDaniels, & Conley) – 48.6 plus Naz Reid (79)!
  5. HOU (Sengun, FVV, Green, Brooks, & Jabari) – 71

My biggest takeaways are that Boston is by far the best team in the league, but there is a huge “second tier” of squads that can convince themselves they have a chance if the Celtics stumble. Also, Houston is incredibly deep for a likely play-in squad. October 22 can’t come soon enough.

Lebron and ad the best duo. Jokic and Murray get it back if Murray shows me a pulse of the 23’ playoffs

If you want to win a Finals then yes. If you want to win the in season tourney then maybe go with Lebron/AD

I’m surprised to see Kuminga get ranked and not Wiggins. But Wiggs was bad last year. Hopefully he gets his head in the game this year.

Yea Wiggins stunk up the joint for the first 2-3 months. I think he actually was very solid the second half, although still probably just borderline top 100.

Dwhite & Jrue both better than Scottie is certainly something lol

also Chet ahead of Porzingis is pretty crazy too. in general, Cs got crazy bumps to their ratings, so did Nugs and Thunder and Lakers

It would be a pain, but I think the only way to do it is to do a bullet list and type out the rankings.

I don’t think its that insane - at that part of the list the guards you get to all have some questions.

Kyrie has been super up and down the last 5 years so its fair to not just look at the positives with him.

Lillard looked like a different player this past season - we have to see if he bounces back, esp. since he’s definitely a bigger defensive liability than Murray has been historically.

Ja has issues that have affected his availability, which I think they’re factoring in.

Fox has literally one season as a good outside shooter - lets see if he replicates that.

      etc. etc.

Even in Dame’s down year, he still had better numbers than Murray and has had better numbers for past 3 years.

i just think the only way to have murray, a player who’s never been an all star and only has maybe one year as a snub, top 20, is to both weigh playoffs incredibly heavily, and discount the most recent playoffs, which is pretty contradictory imo

Yea that’s fair. I definitely interpret this list as having a bend towards the skills / abilities that you need to win in the Postseason and not just ‘who are the most skilled players in a vacuum’… but if you do that, you do need to bite the bullet and accept what happened recently even if sample size is small.
