As a thought experiment, if Giannis were to become available for trade this season, what teams do you think field an offer and what do you think the Bucks agree to? He’s making 48mil this year but the bucks are in the 2nd apron.
Okc should pony up every pick they need to outbid the next closest team (which I think is either pelicans or jazz).
I feel like spurs would be a dark horse. They’d have to send Sochan, Johnson and maybe Vassell plus a bunch of firsts but if Giannis was actually available I think spurs would cash all those assets out immediately for him. Imagine a front line of Giannis and Wemby? Jfc
Every single pick OKC, Utah, Houston, or any other team that has a lot of drafts picks owns.
Thunder would be favorites to land him but I do wonder if the Jazz would utilize the assets they got from Minny and the Cavs to compete for him.
When Giannis came in the Bucks were worth $312M and today they’re worth $3.2B.
So Giannis is worth $2.89B.
That’s about the Indiana Pacers.
It would cost the Indiana Pacers to trade for Giannis.
Not the players on the team and all their picks, the entire ownership of the franchise would have to be transferred to the Bucks owner for it to be a reasonable package.
TT, Shump, Nets Pick
The only team that has anything that could make the Bucks think are the Thunder.
Giannis for JDub + Haretenstein + Cason Wallace + 6 FRPs
I don’t see another team putting together a better package
It is fun as a Thunder fan to know we COULD, but I don’t think we would remotely ponder giving up that much for Giannis.
If he was actually avaliable, yes you would
We probably would, but the calculus is going to change by next summer. I expect something in the neighborhood of 25 5 5 from Jdub this year. Getting pretty close to untouchable. Same for the Clippers picks. We are an injured Kawhi year from those being top 6 or 7 and basically gold.
Most of the comments are not serious or trying to be funny, but I think it’s an interesting discussion.
I’ll throw out a few scenarios (without making the dollars work exactly):
- Orlando for Franz, Suggs, and a ton of picks
- Cleveland for Mobley, Garland, and picks
- Memphis for Bane and a ton of picks and swaps
- Rockets for Amen, Whitmore, Eason, and a ton of picks and swaps
- Spurs for Vassell, Keldon, and a ton of picks and swaps
Large and freaky
2Long 2Strong
Lalers would give Lebron and 2 first round picks
