I started getting into the NBA during the finals because a friend of mine is a massive celtics fan, I told him my team was the mavericks for a bit of friendly banter but feel like mavericks aren’t actually the team for me, I loved watching donic tho and felt he really carried the mavs in the last few games.

Tell me who your barrack for and why I should too?

Btw im Australian

Clippers because I have the same story as you but when they matched with the Warriors vs my brother in 2014 i think it was. I decided to followthrough, they became my team and CP3 the main guy I kept up with.

As of now they’re solid. Certainly will keep you at the edge of your seat for sure!

I have recently found a new love for basketball and the NBA again after 20 years since I was a teenager in school. My childhood favourites were the Bulls because it was the Jordan era and the Lakers because of Kobe and Shaq. When someone mentions the NBA I immediately associate it with them because of my childhood, so I will likely continue to follow them.

I do however also like the Knicks and Celtics because they are 2 out of 3 of the first ever teams. Both cities also have British history and also the closest to the UK and I am from there.

So I basically have an interest in 4 teams. Haha. Hope that inspires you!

Find 2 or 3 top players that you like and follow them whatever team they’re on. There are a bunch of players that are just more charismatic and fun to follow like Luka, Ant & Wemby. There’ll be a lot more clips of them posted on this sub than other players, and they have personality (there are a lot of boring players like jokic, embiid, kawhi, lbj, ad) which both just make it easier to be a fan.

Understandable if the Mavs aren’t for you but they do have 2 Australians on the team (Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum).

Other than that, I’d say just start watching some games and highlights and eventually you will find someone you want to root for.

Imo the spurs, hornets, pacers and magic are all good options if you want a fun team that is relatively young

I would say if youre starting out–why not the spurs? They got championship pedigree and the Potentially greatest of all time to ever exist in wemby? and theyre an easy team to root for, little to no drama, and have won in every decade since the 90’s

maybe have a look at all the jerseys and team branding and decide which one you like the most, maybe that will help you make a choice

There’s always room on the Thunder bandwagon for more. We are consistently one of the best run teams, and are pretty likely to start a new rivalry with the Celtics this year

    Aussie here.

I’ve been following the Knicks and Bulls for almost 20 years.

Bulls have no idea what they’re doing.

Knicks have been through a pretty rough patch for the past 20 years until hiring Thibs as the coach.  Great culture and team to follow. It’s like watching his Bulls team all over again.

That said. Good young teams  OKC, Magic
