Stade de France obviously had the most people cheering, and it was very very loud, but a venue that big can rarely reach the levels of absolute madness.
I visited judo hall, I know not much about the sport. The place was rocking like I have never seen a venue go crazy. Of course, a Frenchman, Teddy Riner, won the +100kg weight class, so that helped…
Boxing had a super devoted crowd too, not even any French athletes in there! This was a surprise that the atmosphere was so good!
Morocco vs Argentina men’s football in Lyon, it was crazy and fun, despite the craziness at the end both sides partied outside after the first end of the game.
The crowd at Nadal and Alcaraz vs. Krajicek and Ram (USA) tennis double’s was absolutely insane
Was it partisan-like or more like a loud appreciation type of feel?
Oh very partisan. As one of the very few Americans there, I felt hated rooting against Nadal LOL
Stade de France, espacialy for rugbysevens and Dupont was wild. But cycling road at montmartre takes the crown without a doubt
The crowd at BMX Racing - a smaller venue - was electric all night. But when French men took 1-2-3 in the finals (first time in 100 years they swept the podium), the mayhem went to a different level.
I’ve seen 25 events these Olympics (my first ; I live in Paris) and one of the craziest roar was actually an Athletics morning session, Saturday 3rd.
Anaïs Bourgoin, french athlete, is running in one of the Repêchages heats for 800m. To qualify for the semis, she has to finish the race in the first place. She’s in 5th position at the 5-600 m mark and then starts a comeback and finishes 1st. Might not be the loudest I heard the Stade de France be but that was the most surprising for sure. Felt like we had scored Football World Cup winning goal for 10s. Amazing experience I’ll never forget.
The pool must have been very loud when Marchand won
I have seen about 10 different sports. The loudest crowd by far was at the swimming pool when Léon Marchand swam the 200 m butterfly and passed Milak in the last 20. I believe I will not experience a louder roar in my lifetime, with hopefully at least 3 or 4 decades to go.
