I have to be honest. I fear we are downgrading from the Paris Olympics in regards to venue locations.
I know LA has a different history, but it hurts my heart to see that the Olympics will be held at places like “Crypto.com Arena” and the “Intuit Dome”. Just seems so corporate and devoid of soul – which, honestly is very on brand for America, but still disheartening. They feel separated rather than integrated into the vibe of the city.
How do you feel about the proposed venues and their ability to represent LA/US culture
The current listed venues are:
Crypto.com Arena - Gymnastics Intuit Dome - Basketball SoFi Stadium - Swimming LA Memorial Stadium (good choice IMO) - Athletics Exposition Park - Dive Sepulveda Basin Area - Many other sports (equestrian, BMX, shooting, etc.) Long Beach - Variety of sports Oklahoma City - Canoe and Softball
in Europe we also have the Allianz Arena or The Red Bull Something.
Don’t worry about it.
And most countries use the olympics to upgrade their stuff, I am sure California will also do that in the next 4 years.
It doesn;t start next week, you guys have time.
The Accor Hotel Arena was actually renamed to its former original name of Paris Bercy just for the olympics. Where there is a will, there is a way.
It seems that you he basis of LAs bid was about sustainability of the Olympics as that’s become a huge topic. Because of that, LAs bid was based around not building or really improving any of their existing venues, they basically said we already have what you need so let’s just do it here.
