Can someone explain to me why breaking isn’t coming to LA? I saw something about it but was confused behind the ‘why’
Every host decides which sports stay and which sports go (within reason). So LA decided breaking wasn’t for them. Instead they are bringing back baseball!
Each Olympics consists of all core Olympic sports + up to 5 optional sports chosen by each host and approved by the IOC. These are not expected to stay. People ask why they add sports only to remove them right after, but it’s just one action, they get selected for one event. Paris picked breaking, LA didn’t, that’s all there is to it. Some optional sports that check all the boxes might get promoted to core status, but that would require additional actions, being out for the next Olympics is the default.
