I don’t think it needs to or is meant to be heartbreaking.
Would it be better to do the paraolympics before hand? They get the initial hype and the party started and maybe get some viewers before “Olympic fatigue” sets in?
It would be cool to do it interspersed between so they are happening in unison.

Copa america and euros ended 1,5 week before the olympics. Probably worse to run at the same time as those than after the olympics
Will they always be scheduled before it like that though? I watched some copa but I’m not familiar with their annual reoccurrence
When I volunteered for the PyeongChang Olympics, we had to put tape over all the Olympic emblems on our uniforms and get rid of or cover up Olympic markings because it’s not the Olympics but the Paralympics.
So I’m not sure that they want to do that in reverse since the Olympics are the main event.

I can’t wait until the Paralympics. I enjoyed them so much in Tokyo and Beijing 2022. Got to watch sports I’d never heard of before and the competition was even more awe-inspiring. I only hated that they didn’t last as long as the Olympics!
I wish they wouldn’t do the closing ceremony until the Paralympics were over. It makes it seem like it then end instead of more upcoming!
