in America, many people play a sport for almost 10 years and couldn’t make their high school JV team. Talent matters even at that level. How do parents know if their kid is talented enough to do well at a sport to a high level?
People see you do it and they see and nurture your talent. It seems really simple but it kind of is that simple.
Typically it wouldn’t be ‘he/she will be elite’ but that they have talent and let’s see how it goes.
A professional coach can determine if the kid is highly talented. Parents are biased, no matter the sport.
A coach would probably talk to the parents.
They let the kid try out a variety of sports, kids tend to gravitate towards the stuff they’re good at. Someone who’s been playing for 10 years and couldn’t make their high school JV team, then they almost definitely do not have a talent for that sport
oh, you can tell compared to the rest of the kids-- believe me. it’s obvious
