I know right now these are the dog days of the NBA and basketball in general right after the Olympics are over. I have always had this debate in basketball about reclassification. now a little bit about me. My name is Jude. I am from Toronto 29 years old and I graduated high school 11 years ago. I say that to say that I have always thought that the goal for players was to get to the NBA as quick as possible. Now I do understand being held back for a greater chance of obtaining a scholarship, developing physically/mentally but my argument has always been once you obtain the top offers why don’t you go back up into your original grade and play up with your proper age as opposed to staying in your as I like to call it false grade for example Andrew Wiggins also a fellow Toronto native who’s my age. He reclassified going from grade 11 in September 2012 to going back up to grade 12 the next month ( our actual grade) before heading out to Kansas and then becoming the number one pick of the 2014 draft. I feel like players such as John wall/ Karl Anthony Towns could’ve benefitted from doing the same thing as well Karl Anthony towns is the same age as me as well and could’ve went to Kentucky a year early and still dominated easily. John Wall easily could’ve been the number player in the country in the 2008 recruiting class. I also believe LeBron would’ve been just as successful if he left in 20O2 and got drafted in the 2002 NBA draft. I say all of this because I personally believe my cousin should’ve reclassified. My cousin is Myck kabongo he went to Saint Benedict’s with Tristan, and then went to Findlay Prep following the steps of Cory and Tristan had he went to Texas the same year Tristan and Cory attended he would’ve been in the NBA easily after his junior season Ironically, the same year he declared in 2013. On the women’s side, I believe Jordin Canada who attended UCLA from 2014 to 2018. Who is my age as well would’ve killed in the WNBA from 2017. These are just my personal beliefs. I love to know your thoughts on this.
