I would like to see the NBA put more emphasis on winning a division. The NBA already makes a schedule based off the divisions, the playoffs should also reflect division standings too. Being a top team inside a division should help playoff positioning while being a second or third place team hurts positioning. No more best overall record.
Division winners go 1-3, the rest 4-8 are wild cards. Team match normal 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6 and so on and so forth.
