Is there some logistical reason why we can’t mix East/West in this tourney? We already divide the playoffs. Seems like mixing conferences would be a fun way to differentiate it.

There’s some format to how the groups were made right? Not a randomised draw?
they use the record of the teams previous regular season to group all teams in a conference into 5 pots. Then one team from each pot is randomly drawn into each group, to make sure the best teams don’t play each other in the group stage.
