Saw this question on twitter and it was very split. I wanted to see what reddit thinks. Who do you think is better straight up?

not to be harsh, but peak russ even with peak PG is first round exit. Shai already got to 2nd rd as first seed.

Russ is better straight up, but I’m building a team with SGA first. Russ has always had a fatal flaw of low basketball IQ, which negates a lot of his upside when it really matters. I’d basically have to have another star better than him to take the ball out of his hands in crunch time, where I don’t think I would with SGA

SGA is the correct answer. Russ, as the best player on his team, never came close to OKC this year. SGA is dramatically more efficient as a scorer and has already had more playoff success than Westbrook as best players on their team.

Russ put up crazy numbers, but crazy numbers don’t equate to winning

lowkey, it’s probably gotta be Shai individually if we’re being real and not hella nostalgic, however, Russ carried and elevated his teams more than Shai has ever been able to. Russ is one of the best point guards to play the game, Shai is more of a shooting guard/pure scorer, but Russ could do that and also be the entirety of his teams offense with playmaking and rebounding.

    • Shai you could probably plug into any team in the league and any version of a team over the past 15 years and he’d make a quite a difference with his scoring ability.

    • Russ it’s not so sure that he’s a positive fit on any team, but based off what he did do he balled the fuck out and lead the hell out of the squads he was given in the peak of his career

Russ has always been a very overrated player. He puts up insane numbers but there is a reason why OKC always underperformed after KD left. He’s just too inefficient.
