You’re no different than making fun of the marathon runner who finished last.

As an Aussie i’m so embarrassed with how our country has been treating her, some of the comments online are disgraceful.

    There’s no comparison.

The marathon runner put in 100% of every bit of her soul into completing that run for herself and her country.

The “breaker” seemed to have put as minimal effort into her routines as possible. I’m embarrassed for her and the people she was representing.

This. Breakdancing is an incredibly difficult sport where people are literally throwing themselves around and balancing on the most precarious body parts. True breakdancers have incredibly strength and immaculate precision, and yet Raygun had none of that. She did a routine any able-bodied person can do save for a few parts, where as no able-bodied person should be able to do breakdancing without serious training.

It sucks because people have been ignoring the other breakdancers who performed great, and are saying that breakdancing will be removed as an Olympic sport because of her.

Your comment is terrible. While I tend to prefer traditional sports in the Olympics, I have seen break dancing that is incredibly athletic and talented. I would expect to be amazed at the Olympic performances in that discipline. The Olympics represent the best in athleticism and talent from across the world. She might as well come on stage to take a dump and she couldn’t have insulted and mocked the Olympic spirit more.

I disagree with comparing her effort and preparation to someone finishing last in a race. If the runner actually ran (made an effort) there’s no comparison. If the runner decided to skip through the whole race, run backwards, or walk on their hands then yes we can compare them. Otherwise no.

What she did equals to a synchronised swimming team performing their whole rutine out of the water. Or an rhythmic gymnastic rutine with ball performed with a watermelon. Okay, that last one would maybe be cool to see!

My point is she purposely ignored the rules of the sport. She didn’t perform one single approved move.

As an Aussie, I’m so embarrassed by her performance. This makes us Aussies look like we can’t dance. There is so much talent here & this is who represents us?

She pulled a Stunt (for attention) and maybe a hip out of place.

What’s so funny is that there’s African American college students writing papers about hip hop and breakdancing being integral to the urban black experience and the formation of inner city poetry…and then Australia just shit all over that.

What i dont like is she should have never been there. She is totaly a priviledged person who looks down at the art form and the community. There were lots of people who were qualified but since breaking is working class culture the organisers didnt go to the real community. Instead they chose some one with academic knowledge of breaking.altough her analysis of the culture and normes of the dance are realy interesting ; she beautifduly demonstates how academia and the actual communities they claim to represent or reserch some time are so far away.if she had any honesty she would have seen that she had no place there.

I’ve seen homeless people breakdance on the streets of Sydney for loose change that had more talent… God knows how many people got shafted to give her that slot

Marathon runners actually run, they don’t go off course and do moves that has nothing to do with running. I’ve never seen the windmill in breakdancing.
