Judges make a mistake on the routine difficulty.
    Appeal filed and accepted.
Appeal overturned for allegedly missing the cutoff by 4 seconds.
Appeal filed based on video proof that the original appeal was filed before the time limit.
Appeal denied because you can’t appeal an incorrect decision.

Plus the issue with the incorrect score for another competitor by penalizing her for stepping out of bounds when it didn’t occur.

The system is broken and needs to be revamped.

If the goal is only to use technicalities to protect the judges then they’re definitely meeting their goal. The goal should be to get it right no matter what, in which case these people could not look worse than they do now.

      Maybe I can clarify things.

There is no “allegedly”, the only time that matters is the time recorded using the official clock of the Olympics. Late is late no matter if it’s 4s or 4 minutes. That part is not subjective.

Appeals are not made on video “proof”, videos are not taken into account. The only thing that matters is the official clock.

There are many things broken, but this isn’t one of them. There is one source of truth, the official clock.

Appeal denied because you can’t appeal a decision based on incorrect data.

Does it say when you can appeal a decision? Seems it has to be during a full moon or something of the sort.

The US was trying to appeal a decision that was made the day before and in which THEY ALSO PARTICIPATED and they agreed with. It’s like appealing every day repeatedly for the same thing. What exactly is hard to understand about that?

evidence is now coming out that CAS did not get in touch with the correct ppl in the US for the meeting. This led to the US not having the same amount of time as Romania to gather evidence. There is a US reporter and a Romanian reporter that are reporting this.

Not quite, but close. An arbitral tribunal (like the CAS) isn’t a “real” court, in the sense of being a government institution. And so while arbitral awards are generally binding, if there is a fundamental flaw in the arbitration process, you can apply to vacate the arbitration award. The grounds for doing so are very narrow, but this appears to be what they intend to do, given their reference to the Swiss courts.

Her feet landed at 360+30 degrees at best. And her chest and hips were facing about 360+ 45 degrees. But the cop says anything short of 30 degrees (which means she must complete 360+150 degrees) must get downgraded. Judges actually watching a replay and deciding to credit it was the biggest injustice/ judging bias imo.

I’m so glad most US sports don’t deal with CAS on any sort of regular basis.

Sometimes the great and terrible thing about sports is saying “well the refs screwed us” and moving on. Holding a grudge for years/decades, sure. Debating the results over drinks at the pub? Sure. Trying to get the actual result changed? That’s crazy behavior.

Yeah thats just the nature for a lot of sports right, you often dont get to overturn an obviously incorrect call after the fact. Like you dont overturn an obviously offside goal after the match ends. Or you dont overturn an obvious pass interference in a conference final, no matter how egregious that new orleans game was. You just dont get to do that in sports. So i can see why the rule is in placed. Its just a shitty situation all around that normally can be avoided of the ref/judge was able to give the correct call
