It’s kind of weird how this sport is still strongly dominated by one nation despite other good championships/ tournaments existing outside of the NBA.

Because we all have to play it in school. All of us. It’s like table tennis in china. You have a massive population that is all playing the same game from early childhood, being taught by the same rules and the same strategy.
Because other countries are late to Basketball. Same as US is late in soccer.
