Right now, Gobert has had an impressive career for a defensive specialist:

7x NBA-all defensive team

4x Defensive Player of the Year

1x All-NBA second team

3x All-NBA third team

3x All-Star

Silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

While many people acknowledge that Gobert has had an impressive career, there is some debate on whether he will make the Hall of Fame or not, mainly due to his relative lack of all-star appearances, his mediocre offensive skills for a center, and his lack of a “big win.”

But if the French are able to take the gold from the United States, that would be a huge accomplishment and accolade for Gobert. Olympic Gold medals are coveted to begin with, but being able to defeat a team as stacked at the United States would make it just that much more valuable, possibly even close to the level as an NBA championship.

So if the French win gold, do you think that guarantees Gobert a spot in the Hall of Fame?

Personally i think x4 DPOY should get you in, but I don’t know how the hall of fame looks at it.

Bball-ref has him at 25% right now,

He’ll get in but not as a first ballot without more All-Stars. Defensive specialists like him, Michael Cooper, Ben Wallace, do get in just not as first ballots

I think the list of multi-time DPOY winners is a good indicator for him. Every player to win the award 2 or more times has made it into the HOF except Eaton. Rudy and Dwight will be the newest additions to the club.

Gobert would have to murder someone to not make the HOF, regardless of what happens in these Olympics.
