My friends and I have been having a debate about if Kevin’s Durant is all time on the same level as Kobe. It started as a way to troll some Kobe fans in the gc but after a basic look over there basketball reference pages it was surprisingly closer than I expected and decided to post here to see what others would say. Looking for more statistical analysis and less opinion.

Kobe is miles ahead of KD. Kobe from 2008-2010 was just unreal. His stats still look amazing despite the average NBA team scoring like 85 a night vs today where that’s inflated to be like 110. He was also a great defender and had that killer instinct you just have to watch to understand. I feel like Kobe’s greatness is getting a little slept on by the average person, but then there’s one lunatic who says he’s top 3 every once in a while.

KD is a noticeably better shooter from all ranges and is probably a better fit on most high level teams (like warriors are better w kd than kobe). Also a more versatile defender, although early kobe is a defensively menace and clearly superior. Kobe was better in his era than KD was in his though imo, so i’m taking kobe pretty comfortably as a #1 option.
